I recently ran into a new medium–that’s right, packing tape. When layered and held up against a light source, you can see all the values of the overlaying tape. I was so excited, i walked up to rite aid, bought three rolls and started the minute i got home. I decided to do Grace Kelly, my idol :)
Initially, i was extremely frustrated. I had no idea how i was going to go about doing this. Each time i thought i was done, i saw another flaw. But after about four hours, i got it juuuuust right.
The last one shows the piece without light shining through it–crazy, right? I loved working with tape, as frustrating as it was, and i see plenty of tape-portraits in my future.
